Abstract
Introduction: Boarding school models limit students from using gadgets. New students entering the boarding school model for the first time will experience a different experience because they have to limit the use of gadgets. This can cause anxiety disorders because they are separated from their gadgets. The increasing dangers posed by gadgets, especially to children and teenagers, have prompted the need to educate school children about the dangers of using gadgets. Objective: To increase junior high school students' knowledge about the use of gadgets and the risks they pose to health. Method: This community service uses counseling methods and interactive discussions with material in the form of understanding and types of gadgets, various health hazards they cause, and prevention and control efforts. The tools used are LCD projectors, PowerPoint materials, and leaflets. Result: The knowledge score before counseling was a minimum of 40, and a maximum of 80, with a standard deviation of 11.389, while after counseling the minimum knowledge score was 70, and a maximum of 100, with a standard deviation of 11.293. The results of the Wilcoxon analysis obtained a p-value = 0.000. Conclusion: Education about the dangers of using gadgets on health for junior high school students can increase students' knowledge. There is a better understanding from students about the types of gadgets that cause danger that were previously considered harmless. Advice for parents of students to limit the use of gadgets, especially when students are at home.
