Abstract
Background: Excessive screen time and low levels of physical activity during early childhood may contribute to various health problems and motor development disorders in children. Insufficient physical activity can lead to developmental delays, including delayed walking and speech development. Prolonged mobile phone use and inadequate family stimulation are considered major contributing factors to various health and developmental problems in children. Furthermore, low levels of physical activity, high obesity rates, and excessive consumption of high-sugar foods may increase the risk of various diseases in children. Objective: This community service program aimed to increase physical activity among early childhood populations in order to reduce screen time and prevent various non-communicable diseases. Method: The program was conducted through assistance and training in various physical activities, including running, jumping, throwing, coordination, and balance exercises, which were delivered in the form of games. Result: The results of this community service program demonstrated improvements in children’s physical performance following the intervention. In the balance test, the average score increased from 6 seconds before the intervention to 10 seconds after the intervention, representing an improvement of 4 seconds or 66.6%. In the throwing and catching component, the average score increased from 6 repetitions before the intervention to 9.5 repetitions after the intervention, indicating an increase of 3.5 repetitions or 58.3%. In the running component, the average running duration increased from 176 seconds before the intervention to 214.5 seconds after the intervention, reflecting an improvement of 38.5 seconds or 21.8%. Conclusion: Early childhood requires at least 180 minutes of physical activity per day to improve motor, cognitive, and social development and to prevent various diseases.
