Abstract
Background: Indonesia is the fourth largest number of active smartphone users after China, India, and America. Various phenomena of increasing use of gadgets in Indonesia require the parents to accompany children so that they are wise in using devices. Currently, most children already have personal gadgets due to online learning the previous year due to the Covid-19 outbreak. Objective: It is preventing the effects of using gadgets on children through parental control applications. Method: The activities were carried out at Bobosan 01 Public Elementary School, Purwokerto, Banyumas. Digital parenting training was a method chosen. A practice of parental control applications was using the Google Family Link. The knowledge is substantial through the distribution of leaflets and sharing using Powerpoint. Measurement of participant knowledge was taken before the training and a week after the training. Result: The training was attended by 30 guardians of students in grades 4 and 5. The results showed increased knowledge before and after the training activities, but the achievement of using the application by the participants was still relatively low (40%). Conclusion: Training can increase parents' knowledge about parental control for children. There needs to be good cooperation between schools and parents of students in managing the use of gadgets in children.
