Abstract
Background: COVID -19 is transmitted through droplets that come out when an infected person talks, sneezes, or coughs. In RT 5 RW 3 East Timoho, Bulusan Village, Tembalang District, Semarang City, at the beginning of September 2020, 1 Covid-19 case was recorded. Prevention efforts that can be done easily are washing hands using soap or hand sanitizer, not touching the face area, and using masks properly. Objective: prevent the transmission of COVID-19 in the area by implementing clean and healthy living behaviors, especially proper and correct habits of washing hands. Methods: socialization/education on proper and correct handwashing practices by giving leaflets, placing posters, and providing hand-washing facilities in strategic places. Results: The results of this community service are the delivery of proper handwashing socialization to the local neighborhood chair, the handover of leaflets to the local neighborhood chair, the distribution of leaflets by the local neighborhood chair, poster installation in strategic places, and the provision of hand washing facilities for residents. Leaflets have been received by each family head, and residents have used the hand-washing facilities before and after activities. Conclusion: The provision of socialization and infrastructure facilities can increase knowledge and encourage changes in community behavior.
