HUBUNGAN PERAN CARING KADER TERHADAP TINGKAT KEPATUHAN MINUM OBAT HIPERTENSI PADA LANSIA

Background: Non-compliance with hypertension treatment among the elderly is a significant issue in developing countries like Indonesia. This non-compliance often stems from a lack of awareness and understanding, leading to inadequate hypertension control, increased health complications, and rising healthcare costs. Common non-compliance behaviors include long-term cessation of medication, dose skipping, or altering prescribed dosages. Community health cadres play a crucial role in managing hypertension treatment adherence, as they are closely connected to the community. They can offer care, motivation, education, and support which are vital in encouraging patients to follow their treatment regimens. This study aims to explore "The Relationship between the Role of Caring Cadres and the Level of Adherence to Taking Hypertension Medication in the Elderly." Purpose: Analyzing the relationship between the caring role of cadres and the level of adherence to taking hypertension medication in the elderly. Methods: This study is an analytic survey type research with a cross sectional approach. The sample was 38 elderly people suffering from hypertension in the working area of Puskesmas Sungai Tabuk 1 Lok Buntar Village selected by accidental sampling technique. The research instrument used a questionnaire. Data were analyzed using the chi square test. Result: There is a relationship between the caring role of cadres and the level of compliance with taking hypertension medication in the elderly (p = 0.002). Conclusion: There is a relationship between the caring role of cadres and the level of compliance with taking hypertension medication in the elderly.
