Analisis Pengaruh Penerapan Blockchain terhadap Transparansi dan Efisiensi Operasional di Bank Syariah Indonesia (BSI)

The development of digital technology in recent years has brought significant changes to the Islamic financial industry in Indonesia. Bank Syariah Indonesia (BSI), as the largest Islamic financial institution, faces demands to provide faster, more secure, and more transparent services. In this context, blockchain technology has become a widely discussed technology due to its ability to store data permanently, securely, and traceably without the risk of unilateral changes. This technology offers significant opportunities for Islamic banking, particularly regarding contract management, transaction security, and consistent implementation of Islamic principles. This study aims to illustrate how blockchain can be applied to critical processes at BSI, such as contract document verification, transaction monitoring, and Islamic audits. The research method used is descriptive qualitative, collecting and analyzing literature from 2018–2025, which is then further deepened through a case study at BSI. The literature was analyzed using a thematic approach facilitated by reference management tools such as Mendeley for more focused data selection and grouping. The research findings indicate that blockchain has significant potential to improve the efficiency and accuracy of processes at BSI, particularly in creating clear and tamper-proof transaction records. In financing contracts such as murabahah, blockchain can support the creation of smart contracts, which can expedite processes and reduce administrative errors. Furthermore, Sharia audits will be easier because all transaction records are stored intact and accessible in real time. However, this study also notes challenges that must be addressed, such as digital infrastructure readiness, the need for human resource training, and the availability of more comprehensive regulatory guidelines related to blockchain technology.
