Investigations against children who have committed criminal acts shouldbe handled by child investigators who meet the requirements as stipulated in theLaw on the Criminal Justice System for Children, but the fact is that there arechild investigators who have not met the requirements, so that they have thepotential to carry out investigations that are not mandated by the Law on theCriminal Justice System. What is the role of the investigator ininvestigating criminal acts committed by children and why is there an inhibitingfactor in the role of the investigator in investigating crimes committed by childrenat the Baubau Police?The research was conducted with a normative juridical approach and anempirical juridical approach. Resource persons consisted of BauBau PoliceInvestigators. Data collection was carried out by literature study and field studies.The data analysis was done qualitatively.The results of this study indicate: The role of investigators ininvestigating criminal acts committed by children at the BauBau Police includesnormative and factual roles. The normative role is carried out by statutoryregulations, particularly the Police Law and the Children Criminal Justice SystemLaw. The factual role is carried out based on the facts regarding the existence of achild who has committed a criminal offense by providing a special childinvestigator, carrying out investigations in a special examination room forchildren, carrying out investigations in a family atmosphere, requesting a socialresearch report, carrying out forced efforts guided by the Law on the JuvenileJustice System . Investigations against children are realized by investigators bymeans of investigations in a family manner, not wearing official clothes and notputting pressure on children.
