Abstract
Background: Dental and oral health is an important aspect of general health. If dental health is disturbed, the process of nutrient absorption can also be disrupted, and ultimately lead to poor health conditions. Caries are a dental and oral problem that often occurs and can be influenced by food consumption containing high sugar and unclean teeth and mouth. Objective: To determine the dental status of students at MTS Darul Sa'adah Semarang. Method: This research design is descriptive observational with a sample of 31 students 12-16 years. Data was collected using closed questionnaire sheets and DMF-T observation sheets based on WHO. Data were analyzed quantitatively descriptively using the DMF-T index formula. Result: The dental status of respondents is based on the decay of 81 teeth; the dental status of respondents is based on the missing of 4 teeth; the dental status of respondents is based on the filling of 0 teeth filled; and the respondent's DMF-T index is 2,741935 (moderate). Conclusion: Education on the importance of having regular dental check-ups at the doctor and the habit of reducing foods or drinks containing high sugar is important for respondents to reduce the severity of caries. Counseling on the importance of filling cavities needs to be carried out so that the respondent's caries does not get worse.
