Abstract
Background: Hypertension is one of the main risk factors for heart disease and stroke. Although this disease can be prevented with early detection, public knowledge about the importance of hypertension screening is still low. Therefore, efforts must be made to increase public knowledge through education about hypertension screening and early detection as preventive measures. Objective: This research aims to increase public knowledge about hypertension screening and early detection as a preventive measure against heart disease and stroke. Method: This activity uses blood pressure examination methods and direct socialization with the media of PowerPoint, posters, and a pretest-posttest approach. Result: Based on the pretest and posttest results, there was a significant increase in the community's knowledge regarding hypertension screening and early detection. The average pretest score was 4.9, while the average posttest score increased to 10.4, indicating an improvement in participants' understanding. Conclusion: The education program on hypertension screening and early detection can enhance the public's knowledge about the importance of preventing hypertension, heart disease, and stroke. This increase in knowledge is expected to encourage the community to be more active in maintaining health and conducting regular screenings.
