Abstract
Background: Food is one of the basic human needs at all times and must be managed properly and correctly to provide benefits to the body. Food that is fit to eat and does not cause disease. Food must be pure and whole in the sense that it does not contain contaminants and must be hygienic. Food handlers have an essential role in ensuring food safety to prevent food poisoning. Hygiene and sanitation of food handlers is the key to the success of safe and healthy food processing. Objective: to increase knowledge and practice of food producers' home industries on the principles of food hygiene and sanitation. Methods: Socialization of food hygiene and sanitation using the lecture method. The target of this program is home industry food producers in Wonolopo Tourism Village, Mijen District. The evaluation results are in the form of questions before and before giving out socialization. Results: Before socialization, the majority (80%) had sufficient knowledge, and before socialization (86.7%) had good knowledge. Conclusion: Knowledge of food producers about the principles of hygiene and sanitation in post-socialization food improvement.
