Edukasi Pencegahan Diabetes Melitus dan Hipertensi Sejak Dini di Panti Asuhan Khaira Ummah Demak Sebagai Sebuah Kewaspadaan di Masa Pandemi:

Latar belakang: Pandemi Corona Virus Disease (COVID-19) telah menjadi masalah kesehatan di seluruh dunia, termasuk Indonesia. Gejala berat dan komplikasi serius akibat COVID-19 lebih sering dialami oleh orang yang menderita penyakit tidak menular (PTM). Faktor risiko terjadinya PTM berkaitan erat dengan pola hidup sehari-hari, maka perlu dilakukan langkah pencegahan sedini mungkin. Tindakan pencegahan yang dapat dilakukan diantaranya dengan edukasi dan pemeriksaan kesehatan secara rutin. Tujuan: Memberikan edukasi kepada anak-anak dan masyarakat sekitar Panti Asuhan Khaira Ummah tentang pencegahan DM dan hipertensi serta meningkatkan kesadaran untuk melakukan pemeriksaan kesehatan rutin. Metode: Kegiatan dilakukan di Panti Khaira Ummah Perum Pondok Raden Patah, Sriwulan, Kec. Sayung, Kabupaten Demak, Jawa Tengah. Tahapan pengabdian masyarakat terdiri dari persiapan, pelaksanaan, dan evaluasi. Hasil: Hasil evaluasi menunjukkan terdapat kenaikan sebesar 46,3% pada tingkat pemahaman setelah pemberian edukasi pencegahan DM dan hipertensi sejak dini. Pemeriksaan kesehatan rutin didapatkan sebagian besar koresponden mempunyai kadar kolesterol, glukosa sewaktu dan asam urat yang normal. Kesimpulan: Edukasi tentang pencegahan penyakit diabetes melitus dan hipertensi sejak dini dapat meningkatkan pemahaman anak-anak asuh, pengelola dan masyarakat sekitar Panti Asuhan Khaira Ummah.

Abstract
Background:  The pandemic of Corona Virus Disease (COVID-19) has become a global health issue, affecting countries such as Indonesia. Severe symptoms and serious complications due to COVID-19 are more often experienced by people with non-communicable diseases (NCDs). Because the risk factor for NCDs is directly linked to daily life patterns, it is necessary to take preventive steps as early as possible. Preventative actions that can be performed, such as education and routine health checkups. Objective: Educate children and the community surrounding the Khaira Ummah Orphanage about preventing DM and hypertension as well as increasing awareness of routine health checkups. Method: This community service activity was carried out at the Khaira Ummah Panti Perum Pondok Raden Patah, Sriwulan, Kec. Sayung, Demak Regency, Central Java. The stages of community service consist of preparation, implementation, and evaluation. Result: The results of the evaluation showed a 46,3 percent improvement in knowledge after presenting diabetes and hypertension prevention education to children at a young age. Routine health checkups showed the majority of the correspondents had normal cholesterol, glucose, and uric acid levels. Conclusion of this community service activity is early age education about preventing diabetes mellitus and hypertension can improve the knowledge of children, managers and the community around the Khaira Ummah Orphanage.
