PENGARUH AURICULAR ACUPRESSURE TERHADAP XEROSTOMIA PADA PASIEN HEMODIALISIS: A QUANTITATIVE RESEARCH

Introduction: Xerostomia is the main stimulus that causes non-adherence in patients undergoing hemodialysis. Ear acupressure is one of the therapies to treat xerostomia. This study was to determine the effect of ear acupressure on xerostomia. Methods: The research design in this study was a quasi-experimental pretest-posttest with control group design. with a total of 40 respondents who were divided into the intervention group and the control group. The group was given Auricular acupressure therapy intervention on the first day while the control group was given therapy on the seventh day. Results: In the intervention group, P value < 0.05 (HD 1 VS HD 2 VS HD 3), so there is a significant difference. The results of the independent T-test on the xerostomia score with a P value of 0.000, that is, there is a difference in the mean between the intervention group and the control group. Conclusion: Auricular acupressure has an effect on xerostomia, so it can be developed as an intervention to treat xerostomia in terminal renal failure patients undergoing hemodialysis.
