Kematian janin dalam rahim (KJDR) berdasarkan riset penulis menunjukan bahwa kejadian Berat Badan Lahir Rendah (BBLR) memberikan risiko sebesar 101,36 kali untuk mengalami KJDR. Angka Kematian Ibu (AKI) di Indonesia masih belum mencapai target MDGs yaitu 102 per 100.000 kelahiran hidup. Di provinsi Jawa Timur AKI juga masih terbilang tinggi.
