Calopogonium mucunoides was a type of LCC that is often used in oil palm plantations. This plant was useful for preserving the soil surface, reducing soil temperature, and increasing soil fertility. This LCC plant was able to fix nitrogen by producing large amounts of organic matter and increase soil fertility through the use of rhizobium in plant root nodules.
