Low-Cost Wearable Device for Sleepiness Detection Based on Heart Rate Monitoring
Advance Sustainable Science, Engineering and Technology
Vol 6
, No 4
(2024)
Driver sleepiness is one of the most contributing factors in car accidents. Preventions to this problem have been made with various types of driver’s sleepiness detection system, such as systems based on face detection and electrocardiography approaches. However, these approaches require sophisticated systems and impractical design that are not suitable for the low- cost wearable device for daily use. Photoplethysmography based sensor is very favorable to be implemented in the low-cost wearable...

Mangrove ecosystems play a critical role in maintaining coastal health; however, they are increasingly threatened by anthropogenic activities and climate change. Health assessment is essential for effective conservation efforts. However, traditional remote sensing techniques such as the normalised difference vegetation index (NDVI) may not fully capture the complex physiological processes influencing vegetation health. Therefore, this study investigated chlorophyll (Chl) dynamics in mangroves us...

Pleural effusion is a condition in which fluid accumulates in the pleural space. Many diseases may underlie the occurrence of pleural effusion including tuberculosis, malignancy, pneumonia, thoracic empyema, congestive heart failure, and liver cirrhosis (1, 2). In western countries, pleural effusion is mainly caused by congestive heart disease, liver cirrhosis, malignancy, and bacterial pneumonia. While in developing countries like Indonesia it is common to be caused by tuberculosis infection.

Jatropha curcas L is a plant species that can be used for curing, since it contains flavonoid, saponin, and tanin. Jatropha multifida L is proved to have antibacterial activities (Sisunandar, et.al., 2002). This research was intended to find out the antibacterial activities of ethanol extracts of Jatropha curcas L leaves on bacteria Staphylococus aureus, Escherichia coli, and Salmonella typhi, find out the effectiveness of those antibacterial activities and identify the compound groups contain...
