๐Ÿ“„ Abstract

This study examines the contribution of Partial Differential Equations (PDEs) to the development of radar technology, highlighting World War II as a crucial historical period. This context was chosen because radar experienced rapid progress during that time, and the application of Maxwellโ€™s equations and the wave equation proved decisive in shaping global military strategy. Thus, World War II serves as a concrete example of how mathematical models can bridge theory and practice while driving technological innovations that changed the course of history. The issue addressed is the lack of understanding and emphasis on the application of PDEs in current engineering education. The objective of this research is to explore the role of PDEs in supporting radar design and optimization while identifying gaps in engineering curricula related to their application. The method employed is a literature study, analyzing various scientific sources and relevant historical documents. The findings indicate that PDEs, through Maxwellโ€™s equations and the wave equation, provide a fundamental mathematical basis for radar development. These results show that radar not only enhanced object detection accuracy but also significantly influenced military strategy. The study further reveals that current teaching approaches remain largely theoretical and insufficiently applicative, leaving graduates unprepared for industry challenges. Therefore, a better understanding of PDEs is expected to foster innovation in radar technology and other fields. The study also emphasizes the need for curriculum reform to be more practice-oriented, enabling graduates to connect theory with real-world applications and contribute effectively to future technological and industrial progress.
