A FEASIBILITY STUDY OF CURRENT TRANSFORMER (CT) THROUGH INSULATION RESISTANCE TESTING AT PT. PLN (PERSERO) UPT CILEGON SUBSTATION

📄 Abstract

PT PLN (Persero) UPT Cilegon, located at KM 4.5, Kotabumi, Purwakarta District, Cilegon City, Banten, is an electric power distribution company that functions to convert high voltage into medium voltage and distribute it to three ULTG branches. The reliability of the power distribution system heavily depends on the condition of the equipment at the substation, particularly the Current Transformer (CT). This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of routine maintenance and testing to prevent disturbances in the electricity transmission process. The testing methods used include Insulation Resistance testing using a Megger with a standard of at least 1 M?/1 kV, Grounding Resistance, and Tan Delta testing. The results show that the insulation resistance values meet applicable operational standards, indicating that the CT operates properly. These tests are crucial to ensure no electrical failures are caused by insulation degradation or poor grounding systems. Thus, this preventive maintenance activity proves effective in maintaining the continuity and safety of the power distribution system within the operational area of PT PLN (Persero) UPT Cilegon.
