ABSTRACT
In recent years, the demand for developing new materials to reinforce the structure of damaged materials has increased rapidly. Many developing countries have made requests to improve the existing composite material structures. The development of smart concrete materials in terms of infrastructure is very important so that the country's development continues. In this study, composite materials will be used as the maximum and minimum stress test specimens. The purpose of this research is to build a flexible detector system on a composite material using a fiber optic sensor. In this case, the fiber optic light characteristics are obtained in the composite material. Composite materials consist of Aluminum (Al) and Carbon Steel - SS 400. The size of the specimen is 290 mm x 72 mm x 12 mm. The treatment in this study used macro bending and a maximum bending loading of 5 x 105 N. The results showed that when the loading value reached 40 x 105 N the attenuation value of the optical fiber sensor was close to 2.5 dB. However, if the bending load exceeds this value, the optical fiber attenuation increases. It can be specified that the bending loads of 39.91 x 105 N and 40.14 x 105 N with an attenuation of 2.95 dB and 3.08 dB are the sensitivity values. From the calculation of the sensor sensitivity value is 0.54 dB / N.
