PENGUJIAN KEKERASAN DAN STRUKTUR MIKRO PADA SPESIMEN TOOTH BUCKET EXCAVATOR PC 2000 BERBASIS METODE QUENCHING DAN TEMPERING
đ Abstract
This research was conducted with the aim of finding the hardness and microstructure values ??of the Tooth Bucket Excavator specimens. This is done because the age of these specimens cannot last long. Because these specimens work in the mine area which is directly in contact with rocks, sand and gravel in the mine area. The longer contact with rock, sand and gravel the specimen will experience wear in the near future. The method used in this research is quenching and tempering. Quenching is a method of rapid cooling that occurs in specimens from high temperatures to low temperatures. Quenching uses a temperature of 840oC and 900oC with a holding time of 10 minutes. The liquid used is oil with a volume of 60 L. Furthermore, the process of tempering the specimen with temperatures of 250oC and 350oC, and holding time is 1 hour. Both methods are carried out with a tool called Furnace which is able to work up to temperatures of 1000oC. After doing both methods, then determine the value of hardness and microstructure test. The hardness value is determined using a Micro Hardness Vickers Machine with HVN units. To find out the value of hardness of the specimen, you can look for rhombus in the specimen After taking 3 points proceed with calculating the average. The results obtained in testing after quenching at 840oC were 426.5 HVN and 900oC at 420.5 HVN. The quenching uses a holding time of 10 minutes. For 250oC tempering holding time 1 hour get an HVN value of 439.0 HVN at 840oC and 432.7 HVN at 900oC. The microstructure is seen with a Metallurgical Microscope with a magnification of 20X and 50X. Intake of microstructure is carried out with the aim of finding elements that are in the specimen. the elements inside the specimen are martensite, cementite and bainite.
