Ketuban pecah dini (KPD) diartikan sebagai robeknya selaput khorioamnion dalam kehamilan atau fase laten persalinan dan merupakan penyebab terbesar persalinan prematur dengan berbagai akibatnya. Angka Kematian Ibu (AKI) di Indonesia masih belum mencapai target MDGs yaitu 102 per 100.000 kelahiran hidup. Di provinsi Jawa Timur AKI juga masih terbilang tinggi.
