Splitting nicks adalah modifikasi pada mata potong sebuah tool drill yang bertujuan untuk memotong chips ketika proses drilling. Penelitian ini membandingkan antara tool drill standar dan tool drill modifikasi pada proses drilling terhadap waktu proses dan spindle load.
